Attacking Umahi Will Not Distract Him From Developing Ebonyi - Youths Vanguard ... Says Allegation Against Him Taken Out Of Contest
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youths have risen in defence of Ebonyi state governor, Engr. Dave Umahi.
Recall that in the past few days, Umahi has been receiving bashing in the media over his alleged banning of two journalists from the government house.
The PDP youths, under the aegis of South South Youth Vanguard, noted that the enemies of the Governor are now cashing on this development in an effort to bring Engr. Umahi down.
The Youths Vanguard said that the whole issue was taken out content to suit the whims and caprices of these detractors in an effort to derail the governor from focusing on his agenda of developing the state.
The youth vanguard warned that fake news would not help the nation, but only destroy it, adding that there was never any issue of Lassa fever in the state and also there was never anytime soldier carried out any untoward assignment in the state.
The PDP South South Youth Vanguard, in a statement by its National Chairman, James Efe Akpofure, said that no matter the distraction, the target of the Governor remains on how to bring Ebonyi state to international standard.
The group said that the detractors have seen how far the governor has gone in the level of development in all sectors in the state, hence the distractions.
The PDP youth Vanguard added that since Umahi became the governor of the state, his detractors have been looking for a way to rubbish his government, adding that the governor will not be deterred in bringing development to bear in the state.
The Youths Vanguard pointed out that to further attest to the focus and seriousness of Umahi's administration, the state, despite the fact that it has not recorded any case of Corina virus, had at the weekend announced that collation of names for the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer palliative is ongoing, polling unit by polling unit, and that anybody that has any complain can report to the State Situation Room.
The governor in his true characteristics, had appealed to the public especially the politicians and the media not to circulate fake news and materials that could increase fear and panic to the public.
The governor had also commended and thanked many of the journalists in Ebonyi State for standing strongly with Ebonyi State government in this unfortunate pandemic situation in Nigeria and assures all journalists of government's continued support to carry out their professional duties unhindered, and appealed to them to work with the state government for the benefit of Ebonyi State and the entire Country.
The Governor had at the weekend made it very clear that for whatever misgiving government had against the two journalists who reported Ebonyi State negatively in the midst of this pandemic, it was never against the two Newspaper Houses but on the two individuals, and those individuals have since been forgiven; we have kept everything behind us.
He had said: "For the avoidance of doubt, no journalist is banned in entering any of Government premises in Ebonyi State, rather everyone of them is invited to partner with Government to win this war against Covid-19."
The South South PDP Youth Vanguard, however, pointed out that this is the true nature of Ebonyi state governor, adding that it's only his detractors that are trying to paint him with negative character before the public.
