Northeast Governors Holds First Consultative Meeting

Governor Ishaku represented by his Deputy, Engr. Haruna Manu at the first Consultative Meeting of Northeast Governors in Gombe state.

The first consultative meeting by North eastern state Governors took place in the Gombe state Government House.

The Deputy Governor of Taraba state, Engr. Haruna Manu who represented his Principal, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku joined other Governors from Adamawa, Bauchi, Yobe, Borno and Gombe respectively.

In a welcome address, Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state who was the host said the meeting was initiated to come up with a regional framework that will assist in overcoming the challenges militating against the progress and development of the region.



The Gombe state Governor who said Northeast has remained underdeveloped, attributed the challenges to environmental challenges, activities of insurgents, poverty and hunger among others.

He said the meeting will discuss extensively the need to provide lasting solutions to the challenges facing the region.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya said regional framework to regulate the activities of donor agencies and other humanitarian organizations will be set up at the meeting.

Communique will be issued at the end of the meeting on the positions of the Governors concerning the topics of discussions.
