Banditry: Zamfara Assembly suspends local govt chairman, monarch

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has suspended the Maradun Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Ahmad Abubakar for working against security in the state.

The petitioners had accused the Chairman of encouraging armed bandits and notorious kidnappers to freely operate in the LGA, thereby preventing the peace efforts of the state government and failing to discharge his duties as a Chief Security Officer of the local government.

It was gathered that after debating on the matter, the lawmakers unanimously agreed on the motion to suspend the council chairman.

The House also suspended Alhaji Abubakar Rafi, the District Head of Boko West in Moriki Emirate, Zurmi Local Government Area.

The district head was suspended after the lawmakers accepted the recommendations of its joint Committee on Public Petitions, State Security, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
