Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank and Nigeria's former minister of agriculture and rural development has shared heart-warming photos as he reunited with his graduate school professors, who offered him money and scholarship when things got really tough for him.

In the powerful yet lovely photos, Adesina can be seen exchanging hugs and smiles with men he described as having hearts of gold. According to the ADB president, during his graduate study at Purdue University, a public research university in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, he was at some point left with only 25 cents and could barely afford a bus ride to school.

It was on that day he met Prof John Connors who wrote him a $100 (N36,000) check, a huge amount for him at the time and also directed him to meet a professor who offered him scholarship and made his education and means of survival possible.

Not only did Connors give him money, he directed him to Prof Phil Abbott who gave him scholarship and became his Master's study advisor. Abott too, was God-sent to Adesina. After offering him scholarship, he linked him up with another professor, John Sanders, who also gave him scholarship.

These men made graduate studies possible for Adesina but on another level, Professor Del and Marylyn Broersma pastored him and served as guardians as he navigated his new life in America. He described them as angels on earth.
