FIRS denies giving Osinbajo N90bn, seeks legal actions against Timi Frank

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has debunked the claims by a political activist, Mr Timi Frank that it released the sum of N90 billion through Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2019 general elections.

In a statement titled, “RE-Osinbajo in trouble over N90 billion FIRS election fund – Timi Frank” the agency denied the claims calling on Nigerians to ignore the report, stressing that, it will pursue libel actions against him.

The FIRS said it did not spend and could not have spent taxpayers money for political ends, maintaining that Mr Frank is seeking cheap popularity and relevance.

The ex-APC Deputy Publicity Secretary had on Monday, insinuated that Mr Osinbajo’s travails have no connections with the 2023 elections but are as a result of the misappropriation of a certain N90 billion released by the FIRS through the VP for the prosecution of the 2019 Presidential elections.

Mr Frank further stated that the Cabals merely demanded a break down of how the money was spent.
