Bayelsa Guber: State Funds Will Be Used For Delegate Lobbying – PDP Youths – Says EFCC should take note and monitor same

Ahead of the Bayelsa State governorship primary scheduled for Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been urged to monitor disbursement of funds.

The call was made by the PDP Youths Vanguard, following the alleged information that Governor Seriake Dickson has endorsed an aspirant.

The PDP Youths, in a statement by its National Chairman, James Efe Akpofure, said that the call became imperative following reports in some quarters that the state government will go to any length to ensure its favourite candidate emerges.

Expressing concern over this development, the group urged the anti-graft agency to save the state by seriously monitoring its account, so that the government will not liquidate the state all in the name of ensuring that a preferred candidate emerges.

"This situation is worrisome, how can a governor allow 21 aspirants to buy forms when he already knew that he has a preferred candidate amongst them. He should have told them not to waste their money to buy the forms in the first place.

"It doesn't make sense that Bayelsa government would allow such a fraud. If the preferred aspirant is popular, he should be allowed to go to the field.

"Bayelsa money should not be wasted for any person or persons that are not popular. This is the reason why we are calling on the EFCC to beam its torchlight on Bayelsa State finances ahead of the primary.

"We know that money will be given to delegates starting from today, because we heard that the governor has directed that a particular aspirant should be voted for. Bayelsa money will not be used to buy any bad product. EFCC should take note and monitor movement of Bayelsa State money," the group said.
