UNJUST DEMOLITION OF AMADI CENTRAL MOSQUE IN RIVERS STATE

From Dr Hafiz Mukhtar Jahun

Dear His Excellency Barr Nyesom wike

Sir ,Before i start permit me to aide memoire some verses of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria ,though as a Legal practitioner you suppose to know morethan I do.
And to my belief Constitution is supreme and its provisions shall have binding force on the authorities and persons throughout the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Chapter II Section 15 says :
(1) The moto of the federal republic of Nigeria shall be unity and faith ,peace and progress
(3) For the purpose of promoting national integration , it shall be the duty of state to
(b) secure full residence rights for every citizen in all part of the federation
His excellency every Nigerian has the right to practice his own religion with out intimidation ,tormenting or oppression so by demolition trans Amadi central mosque is like you are denying a place of worship for them

This demolition is illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional. It is an exhibition of gross, undiluted Islamophobia and the most odious and insidious attack on an Islamic landmark in that part of the country in recent times.

Section 10 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria says:

‘The Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any religion as State religion’

Wike has declared on three different occasions that Rivers State is a Christian State and no one has deemed it fit to caution him.

Wike does not want any mosque in the state. Neither does he want to see any Muslim around him. Paradoxically, Rivers State citizens are everywhere in the country, particularly in Muslim-controlled parts of Northern Nigeria as well as Muslim-majority parts of the South West. Wike’s ability for independent and logical reasoning is highly in doubt.

Actions of Gov wike  are capable of setting Nigeria on fire,if the Muslims from the north decided to retaliate what will be the consequences ???God Forbid .

In conclusion I charge the stakeholders and federal government to bring Gov wike to order and let the peaceful coexistence between religious border continue to reign .
