CRFLF Kicks As Gov. Ayade Proposes N500m Green Carnival Budget

The State Governor yesterday hinted that, against the N100 million budget for this year’s Green Carnival celebration, he intends to spend N500 million for next year’s celebration.

Sequel to this intentions, Cross River Future Leaders Forum (CRFLF) is fussing that such frivolous spending of state’s funds should not be patronized as the state lacks the fiscal energy to host two(2) different carnivals in one calendar year.

Speaking with News men,  CRFLF Spokesperson, Comrade Benjamin Arikpo notedly pointed that with the year-end cultural carnival drawing off billions from the state’s treasury, any idea of another carnival will not be workable.

Bring to mind that CRFLF yesterday disagreed with the state government for expending N100 million for just a 5-hour celebration which it described as “unnecessary jamboree”, opining that it would have been better the government used such huge funds to settle outstanding pensioners or salaries (especially that of secondary school teachers).

CRFLF believes that with the state’s financial standing, only economically-attainable spending should be encouraged aside spending on the citizens welfare.
