COVENANT UNIVERSITY JOINS LEAGUE OF TOP 1000 UNIVERSITIES IN THE WORLD.

At the ongoing Times Higher Education World Academic Summit (THEWAS) hosted by National University Of Singapore, Covenant University (CU) was declared to be amongst the top 1000 universities in the world for the first time ever.
The top 1000 university ranking is a rank featuring the top 5% universities in the world out of a total of 29,000 institutions globally. It should be noted that over 97% of American institutions do not make the top 1000 rankings. Covenant University is the first private university in Nigeria and the second private university in Africa to feature in the top 1000 rankings. Covenant University(2002) and University of Johannesburg(2005) also become the youngest universities from Africa to feature in the ranking. In West Africa, Nigeria leads with three universities featured with Ghana coming second and last with only one university featured at 800 - 1000th; The University of Ghana.

In the year 2012 on the 10th Anniversary of Covenant University, the Chancellor of the University and Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo had made a solemn promise that CU will rank among the top 10 in the world by 2022 in what he tagged ‘Vision 1 of 10 on 10’. At the time, CU had just leapfrogged into the top 5000 universities in the world. It is therefore a befitting birthday present to the Chancellor who despite leading the best private university in Nigeria for the past 13 years and easily the 2nd best in Nigeria among all private universities, he has continued to strive to become one of the best not just in Africa but in the whole world. Truly, God is not a God of mediocrity.

To God be the Glory!
